“Let thy Food be thy Medicine and thy Medicine be thy Food” – Hippocrates
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a convenient and affordable way to eat local organic foods. It's like buying a subscription to Us Weekly, but instead of receiving a magazine each week, you receive a box of fresh fruits and veggies.
What makes a CSA different from your everyday grocery store? Two words: In. Season. Don't be one of those people that have to succumb to the seasonless array of pesticide-laden produce. What you gain in convenience, you lose in flavor, freshness, nutritional value, and the human connection to each other and to the planet. There is a better way...
Farmer Tom's is a CSA based in Chicago whose mission is to provide locally-grown organic produce to Chicagoland affordably and conveniently. Organic vegetable farmer, Tom Ulick, founded Farmer Tom's CSA with hopes to increase consumption and production of organic produce in the midwest. A half share is only $24 (feeds 2) while a full share is $35 (feeds 5). Each share is equivalent to 2 full bags of groceries. I'm sorry, but the last time I was at my big-name organic grocery store, I spent way more then $24 for a full bag of organic goodness.
