"Know what's weird? Day by day, nothing seems to change, but pretty soon...everything's different." Calvin (Calvin & Hobbs)
The leaves are changing, we turned back our clocks an hour, and our winter coats are making a come-back in our closets. Fall. Autumn. The calm before the winter storm. Whatever you call it, it's a stark difference from the balmy summers of just a few short months back.
With the change of seasons I've noticed a lot of changes in the people around me. Within the 3 months I've seen so much change; the thought of it is almost exhausting. My friend Jodi moved from San Diego to Buffalo. I helped my friend Chrissy move from Chicago to Denver. I've met a handful of people who are brand new to Chicago. I know people who've switched careers, started new jobs, or have been let go. I've witnessed new relationships form and watched some fade to black.

Looking back at what my life was like in June of this year is completely different than what it is today. I'm sure you can relate. All the things that I thought were so important back then seem more like insignificant details now. Makes you wonder why we hold on to things so tight, when we know in due time we're naturally going to let them go.
During this time of immense change things may feel chaotic and out of place. Stressful isn't it? As Chrissy (the new Denver transplant) would say... "change is haaaaaaard." It really is. The best way to handle change is to stay grounded. Stand firm on your own two feet. My good friend Eric Majeski, reiki master & pysch-k practitioner, tells his clients to imagine you have a monkey tail that wraps itself tightly around the center of the earth. This is a great exercise in remaining grounded and stable. Try it. It works wonders.
In the midst of the chaos of change, I encourage you today to pause, take a deep breath, and soak in this very moment. "This" is all that matters. Right now. This is it.
